Gen. Colin Powell were the Republican party candidate I don't know if I would've voted for him, but it's got nothing to do with racism. Sen. Trent Lott made a remark humoring an older white politician from the south on his birthday, which was misconstued and taken out of context by the political left. In short they were calling Trent a racist. Powell was asked to come to his defense and try to cool racial tension. Powell did not! Is it possible Powell is racist? You make the call. So, because of this incident I'd hesitate before voting for Powell in this hypothetical. More evidence; I voted for Lynn Swann for Governor of Pennsylvania. Also, I was hoping Condi Rice would have been a forerunner of the Republican party candidacy. Been saying that for a few years. Goes back to what has been said recently, one party will do whatever it takes to get into office. Doing what's best for their politcal party, not the Country.

Can you believe the media, well everyone but Fox News that is, is crucifying Joe the Plumber. Just a regular Joe who asked Barack a simple question, but because the response was less than desirable from O'bama, they're willing to degrade someone because they want to make Barack look better. This may be the achilles heel of the O'bama campaign. Attacking a regular Joe is not the way to go!

Foreign or Domestic

Think about this. Recently while standing in line at a automotive parts store I overheard a customer talking to a store associate about the gas mileage of his new car. He seemed thrilled with his purchase. I did a little research on the make and model he referred to; I wasn't suprised to find it came with a hefty price tag. I'm wondering if he did a cost comparison analysis on his new purchase. Exactly how long would he have to pay for over priced gas to make up the price difference? Let me just say longer than the amount of time he financed the vehicle for. Much longer! It's not like he's getting much better gas mileage either.

We've had vehicles back in the '70s that get the same amount of gas mileage, if not more, than todays models get. Back in the day, with the long model, big block, gas guzzling cars we had a gas cruch. From that sprang forth the subcompact car. These cars, were capable of 30-40 mpg without emissions. Then in the '80s, the catalytic converter was mandatory on most new models to combat global pollution. I would say that most subcompact and midsize sedans were capable of 25-50 mpg. Remember the Chevrolet Geo Metro. Manual shift, with A/C and a three cylinder with a 50 mpg rating. My first new car was a '86 Chevrolet Spectrum, Automatice, A/C, pwr windows and mirrors and a 4 cyl 170hp engine. I think my out the door price including my beater trade was somewhere around 9K. I wish I still owned that car. I traded it a year later on a new Camaro with a power engine and a healthy appetite for petrol.

The point is this. We haven't actually advanced in fuel economy. The hybrids they're (both foreign and domestic automakers) coming out with are boasting the same gas mileage that has been around for decades. I think their peddling the same old, same old, just with a new marketing scheme. Ask yourself this; Have we really advanced? Does the cost of the new hybrid compare to a used older model that gets the same, or better mileage? There's a reason why a new car is the worst investment you can buy, just think about it.

Saturday, October 11, 2008

I've been thinking alot about posting my political opinions on this blog. I'm sorry if they have offended anyone, but I'm not going to stop. They are my opinions, everyone is entitled to have them. What I will try to do is not inflict party lines into my blog. So, that said, I'm going to try to state my views with disregard for politics as usual.

First, I'd like to state my view on abortion. I think it's wrong! Why would God give us the opportunity to provide for a precious life, only to have us kill it. That makes no sense. I'm sorry if this offends you. Originally I thought I could justify it to mean just late term, or partial birth abortion, but that's just caving in to the pro choice movement to try to please both sides. Life does begin to grow at conception, to state otherwise would be lying to myself.

Second, I don't believe that same sex partners should wed in churches. Sure, they should be able to get benefits for their significant others. They should have the right to live their lifestyle without fear from anyone. But, that being said, they shouldn't try to force their beliefs on anyone either, especially in public schools. Nowhere in the bible does it state that same sex partnerships are anything more than an abomination before God. It wasn't until recently that some churches have been hijacked. They're adapting to conform with modern immorality, because more sinners are prevalent. They're trying to change the word of God, I guess that makes them a God.

As far as anything else goes. There is corruption in Goverment, all parties. Gov't has to work for all not just some special interest. Do I think the filthy rich, or those making more money than others have a responsibility to alleviate the financial burdens of those less fortunate, absolutely they should want to pay more taxes to help the guy who is working to make them richer. Do I think they'll get some kind of medal for it, probably not because there will still be unions pushing the class warfare issues that hate the fat cats. We all have a responsibility to take care of the poor among us. I think benevolence has been lessened due to cons taking advantage of those willing to care. People taking advantage of the systems in place to help the people who can't help themselves, ie: workmans comp, disability & social security fraud. The issue of frivolous lawsuits also come to mind, people lying and stealing from another.

There, I wrote all that not endorsing any political party. They are my beliefs, so, I'm going to vote for God first, then my Country. Do the math and you'll deduce who I'm voting for.

Cheerio

Friday, October 10, 2008

Since I blocked MSNBC from being displayed through my cable tv I've been in a much better mood. Sometimes, however, the memory seems to go blank and I have to add it as a skipped channel all over again. That supposed news station is cleary biased; alot more than the others. I'm actually considering dropping my cable company if they can't resolve it, and switching to a dish. After doing the math I may be able to cut my bill in half using the dish instead. I'm also considering going with the local telephone company, so I can have a land line and DSL. Drastic times call for drastic measures. hahah - gotta love it!

Wednesday, October 08, 2008

John S. Sarah Palin give a speech at a rally in Florida. It's about time they start playing up Baraq Hussein Obamas ties with the domestic terrorist from Chicago. You know, the one who can't stand the US. Clearly Obamas' wife has a problem with the US too; she's only proud to be American after her husband got the nod to be a Presidential candidate. Couple that with his ministers outrageous comments about white people and the Gov't, the only deduction you can come up with is that the Democratic party cares more about their political party than the nation as an entity. For Christs sake people use your mind, you have it for a reason.
